Local Government and Rural Development Minister GIFT SIALUBALO says the revised Cash for Work Programme will resume by late February once the Government completes the verification of beneficiaries.

In an interview with ZNBC News, Mr. SIALUBALO said the verification exercise is aimed at removing irregularities and ensuring the programme reaches the most vulnerable people in both rural and urban communities.
He said the revised programme has been strengthened through clearer guidelines and improved monitoring systems to improve accountability and efficiency during implementation.
Mr. SIALUBALO also disclosed that the Government is settling outstanding allowances owed to beneficiaries from the previous phase of the Cash for Work Programme.
He said the funds for the payments have already been released.
Mr. SIALUBALO said the programme remains a central part of the Government’s social protection strategy, as it provides temporary employment while improving community infrastructure such as road maintenance, drainage systems and public facilities.
