Government has secured 480 hectares of land for the Presidential Constituency Energy Initiative, as part of efforts to expand the country’s energy capacity.
Local Government and Rural Development Minister GIFT SIALUBALO disclosed this during a meeting with a delegation of investors from the United Arab Emirates -UAE.
Mr. SIALUBALO said the initiative forms part of Zambia’s broader strategy to diversify its energy mix and reduce reliance on hydropower.
He noted that several solar energy projects are already underway and said Government is keen to attract more investment into the sector.

Meanwhile, SGC Investment Limited, a UAE-based company, has shown interest in investing in Zambia’s renewable energy sector, with plans to develop 500 megawatts of solar power.
Chief Investment Officer of SGC Investment, MUHAMMAD ORMAR FAROOQI, also disclosed that the company is considering additional investment opportunities in areas such as mining and infrastructure.
