President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Zambians will make a right decision in August this year to retain the UPND based on its good performance.
President HICHILEMA says his party has worked to fulfill promises that where made while in opposition.
He was speaking in an interview with the International Media on the sidelines of the Mining Indaba in Cape Town, South Africa.
President HICHILEMA said the party is not worried about the August election as it had done its work.
The President said government has in this term undertaken a number of reforms in the mining, energy and education sectors.
He said Zambians will choose for continuity and would not want to reverse the gains that the country has recorded.
And the President said the country is now enjoying freedom of expression as the opposition is now able to freely engage in party activities without being stopped.
He recalled that during his days in the opposition, he was not allowed to campaign.
And President HICHILEMA disclosed that works will commence on the Lobito corridor and the TAZARA project.
He said one of financiers Africa Finance Corporation has disclosed that funds have been mobilised to commence the Lobito project.
President HICHILEMA however said more resources are needed for the project.
Meanwhile, the President has stressed that Zambia will trade with the west and east based on the principal of mutual benefit.
President HICHILEMA said Zambia has investments in the mining sector from China and the USA.
