The Ministry of Information and Media has signed a contract with MultiChoice Zambia to place ZANIS Television on the DStv platform.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana said the partnership marks a significant milestone in expanding access to accurate, timely, and credible information for Zambians.
Mr. Kawana described the agreement as more than a commercial transaction, noting that it represents a major step in fulfilling government’s mandate of ensuring citizens across the country and beyond have access to official information.
He added that government has conveyed public concerns regarding DStv subscription fees, with citizens appealing for a review of charges in light of improved electricity supply and a stronger local currency.
In response, MultiChoice Chief Executive Officer for Africa (English Cluster) Retief Tromp welcomed the partnership and pledged continued improvement in service delivery to Zambian subscribers.
Meanwhile, ZANIS Director Loyce Saili said ZANIS TV is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in its content as the channel joins the DStv platform.
