Police in Livingstone, Southern Province, are investigating a case in which a 12‑year‑old girl has been defiled and impregnated by a 14‑year‑old boy.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo confirmed the incident, stating that the girl is believed to be two months pregnant.
Mr. Namalongo explained that the matter came to light after the girl left home on February 7, 2026, and did not return. Her elder brother later reported her missing to police.
The girl was found on February 10 at Dambwa Market and taken to the police station, where she disclosed that she had been living with the suspect and that they were in a relationship.
A medical examination confirmed the pregnancy.
