Former Chipolopolo striker Clifford Mulenga says Zambia’s failure to surpass its 2012 AFCON triumph record is due to poor player transition in the Men’s Senior National Football Team.
Mulenga noted that the manner in which players are phased out and introduced has contributed to the team’s decline, stressing that the process is not based on merit.
In an interview with ZNBC Sport, as the country marks 14 years since winning the AFCON, Mulenga called for a deliberate player progression strategy to strengthen the Chipolopolo.
He said one of the key solutions is the introduction of young players under a long‑term preparation plan to ensure continuity and sustained performance.
