Teachers’ Unions Back Minister’s Warning on Rural School Abandonment

ZANIS -Teachers’ unions have backed Education Minister Douglas Syakalima’s warning that teachers abandoning rural schools risk losing their jobs.Dynamic Teachers’ Union General Secretary David Siamutwa said the warning is timely, noting that learners in rural areas deserve the same quality education as those in urban areas.

Basic Education Teachers’ Union (BETUZ) Director of Public and International Relations Obby Chisala added that the union is saddened by reports of teachers abandoning their posts in rural areas.
