Ngoma Urges Citizens to Reject Tribal Politics, Embrace Unity

Special Assistant to the President for Politics, Levy Ngoma, has urged citizens to reject tribal divisions and embrace national unity.

Mr. Ngoma called on Zambians to put the country first and move away from politics rooted in ethnicity.

Speaking during a one-hour special program on Radio Mano in Kasama, he said tribal politics continue to slow development and weaken social cohesion.

He emphasized that leadership should be based on competence, integrity, and vision rather than tribal affiliation—principles aligned with those advocated by Zambia’s First President, Kenneth Kaunda.

Mr. Ngoma also noted the cordial relationship between government and the Church, particularly the Catholic Church, stressing the importance of distinguishing between individuals and the institution when issues arise.

He assured the people of Northern Province that the country is on the right economic path, citing the revival of mines and increased investment in manufacturing as drivers of growth.

Meanwhile, UPND Deputy Chairman for Elections, Likando Mufalali, said the political environment has improved since the UPND assumed office.

Mr Mufalali said that the party has led by example in ensuring peaceful campaigns, and that citizens are no longer harassed for wearing political regalia of their choice.
