Coach Mutapa Admits Missed Chances in Group Stage Campaign

By Chansa Kunda

Power Dynamos Coach Osward Mutapa says his side will now focus on defending their MTN Super League title after failing to progress past the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

Power Dynamos lost 3-1 to Egyptian side Pyramids in a must-win encounter that would have secured their advancement.

Reacting to the Group A exit, Mutapa admitted the team could have performed better, particularly in the first round of fixtures where the Kitwe giants managed just one point from three games.

He said the team has, however, drawn critical lessons from the campaign and will channel their energy into the domestic league title defense.

After the conclusion of all six Group D fixtures, Pyramids finished top with 16 points, while Morocco’s RS Berkane secured second place with 10 points to advance to the knockout stage. Power Dynamos ended third with seven points, while Rivers United of Nigeria finished bottom with just one point.
