ZANIS- President Hakainde Hichilema has urged Zambians living in the diaspora to be patriotic and invest in their country.
ZANIS reports that President Hichilema said Zambians must love their country regardless of where they live or work, adding that the current economic climate is suitable for investment in various sectors.
Speaking when he met Zambians living in Ethiopia today, the President said his administration has stabilized macroeconomic fundamentals and placed the country on a growth trajectory.
He encouraged Zambians abroad, many of whom work in international organizations, to invest and prepare for their eventual return home.
The President’s Economic Advisor, Dr. Pamela Nakamba, explained that government rationalized spending during difficult times to ensure no sector suffered.
She noted that Zambia’s economy is now on the upswing, with many opportunities available for investment.
Meanwhile, a representative of Zambians living in Ethiopia, Moombe Hamaundu, said citizens abroad will continue to uphold the reputation of their country and thanked President Hichilema for engaging with them.
