Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu has challenged the Zambia Correctional Service to take a leading role in promoting agricultural diversification in the country.
Mr. Mwiimbu said embracing diversified agriculture will help ensure sustainable farming practices, improve land use, support local ecosystems, and generate surplus produce for sale to contribute to national economic development.
He was speaking when he officially opened the Zambia Correctional Service 2026 Senior Officers’ Conference and launched the ZCS Service Charter in Chilanga District today.
Mr. Mwiimbu added that the conference must deliver clear policy resolutions, accompanied by defined implementation timelines and strengthened internal accountability systems.
Meanwhile, Zambia Correctional Service Commissioner General Frederick Chilukutu reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to strengthening partnerships, advancing rehabilitation programmes, modernizing operations, and contributing to national development.
Mr. Chilukutu said the conference aims to provide strategic direction for the institution while reaffirming its core values and mission. He added that the newly launched Charter guarantees that former inmates will receive timely post-discharge support to ease their reintegration into society.
