The Ngoni people have held the first-ever King Zwangendaba Remembrance in Nakonde, with calls for continued peace and unity in the country.
Paramount Chief Mpezeni, who graced the event, reaffirmed his commitment to working with the government of the day. In a speech read on his behalf by Nc’wala Traditional Ceremony National Organizing Committee Chairperson Dumisani Tembo, the Paramount Chief commended government for supporting the remembrance and thanked Chieftainess Waitwika for preserving the burial site.
Chieftainess Waitwika said the site will remain a tourist attraction, while Muchinga Province Minister Njavwa Simutowe praised her stewardship of the burial site, noting its strategic location for promoting cultural tourism.
King Mpemphekiseni Gumbi of KwaZulu-Natal also expressed gratitude to Paramount Chief Mpezeni for tracing his roots through such events.
