Defending champions Zambia will tomorrow face Botswana in their opening match of the COSAFA Women’s Championship in Polokwane, South Africa.
Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 hours.
Copper Queens Assistant Coach Charles Haalubono says the team is targeting a strong start, with the technical bench using the first training session to fine-tune tactical details. He explained that preparations have focused on understanding Botswana’s defensive structure and how Zambia can break it down.
Team Captain Kabange Mupopo said morale in camp is high as Zambia prepares to defend the title. She stressed that the team is not under pressure despite being defending champions, adding that players are focused on working hard and meeting their objectives.
Mupopo acknowledged that the tournament will be challenging but emphasized that the team remains focused and is approaching the competition with seriousness.
After facing Botswana, Zambia will take on Zimbabwe before concluding their Group B matches against Eswatini.
