Police in Lusaka’s Hellen Kaunda area have arrested one suspect in connection with a bee attack incident that claimed the life of a 77-year-old woman.
The incident occurred on February 2, 2026, during which Judith Malyango died, while three other people were left severely swollen.
Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi identified the suspect as Gratias Matunda, aged 60, the owner of the house where the bees originated.
Mr. Chilabi said Matunda, who was allegedly illegally keeping bees at his residence, reported himself to police after being summoned.
He added that Matunda has been charged with one count of manslaughter in relation to Ms. Malyango’s death, and three counts of unlawful acts causing harm for the survivors of the attack.
