The Lusaka High Court has heard that over 2.9 million Kwacha was paid by the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) to Veridian Dynamics, a company belonging to Samuel Dokowe, one of the accused in the murder of former IBA Director-General Guntilla Muleya.

During testimony today, Kamwenje Kayang’a, a Service Coordinator at ZANACO, told the court that the payments were made between June 3 and July 25, 2024, and were disguised as statutory payments to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).

She further testified that on July 23, the day Mr. Muleya was allegedly murdered, over 370,000 Kwacha was withdrawn from Dokowe’s account. The witness added that the account, which had been dormant for some time, was reactivated on January 6, 2020, following Dokowe’s application to the bank.

Earlier, Judge Vincent Siloka overruled an objection by defence lawyers Chawezi Ngoma and Friday Mulenga, who argued that the witness was not competent to testify.

In this matter, Dokowe, along with police officers Mthusani Dokowe and Alex Zulu, and IBA Accountant Francis Chipyoka, are accused of murdering Mr. Muleya on July 23, 2024.

Judge Siloka has since adjourned the trial to February 24, 2026, for continuation.
