President Hakainde Hichilema has directed the formation of a task force to help in restoring traffic flow between Chingola and Chililabombwe following the collapse of Kakoso Bridge.
And, the task force led by Zambia National Service -ZNS-, Zambia Army and AVIC International has been formed to immediately construct a detour within 48 hours.
ZNS Commander Maliti Solochi says government will not leave AVIC International to handle the situation alone, despite the road project being under a Public Private Partnership arrangement.
He said this when he inspected the collapsed Kakoso Bridge in Chililabombwe.
And, Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- National Coordinator Norman Chipakupaku appealed for patience from the public and motorists.
Earlier, AVIC International Project Supervisor, Ma Wenjie said the bridge reconstruction will begin after the detour is completed.
