Lwandamina Named Interim Chipolopolo Coach

By Chansa Kunda

Power Dynamos coach Osward Mutupa has been appointed as deputy to newly named Chipolopolo interim coach George Lwandamina.

Veteran trainer Lwandamina takes charge in an interim capacity after FAZ Acting Deputy General Secretary Iva Lengwe confirmed that Moses Sichone and his deputy Perry Mutapa will no longer serve on the technical bench following Zambia’s poor performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Lengwe stated that Lwandamina’s appointment takes immediate effect, with the Nchanga Rangers gaffer set to lead the team during the Four-Nation Tournament in Francistown, Botswana, scheduled for March 23–31, 2026.

He emphasized that the rest of the technical bench remains unchanged and will continue carrying out their responsibilities.

Lwandamina returns to the Chipolopolo top job, having previously served as head coach from 2015 to 2016 before paving way for Wedson Nyirenda.

This was contained in a statement issued to ZNBC by FAZ Head of Media and Communications Nkweto Tembwe.
