Linda Clinic In-Patient Wing Nears Completion After 10-Year Stall

Acting Health Minister Cornelius Mweetwa says there is urgent need to accelerate the digitalisation of health services in public health facilities across the country.

Mr. Mweetwa explained that digital systems will improve efficiency by reducing patient waiting times and enabling health workers to quickly retrieve medical records.

He said he will, together with Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Kennedy Lishimpi, engage the Ministry of Technology and Science to hasten the digitalisation of operations in public health facilities.

Mr. Mweetwa made the remarks in Livingstone during a tour of an in-patient wing under construction at Linda Clinic, whose completion is funded under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Meanwhile, Mutobati Engineering Supervisor Fred Zimba said construction works, currently at 90 percent, are expected to be completed by April 7, 2026.

The project had stalled for more than ten years after a cooperating partner withdrew funding, but the community successfully applied for support under CDF, which injected about K3.3 million to complete the facility.

The in-patient annex will house, among others, maternity, children’s, and women’s wards.
