The Zambia Revenue Authority –ZRA- has announced that it will waive penalties and interest directly linked to a recent technical outage that affected its core tax and customs systems.

ZRA Commissioner General DINGANI BANDA says the measure is meant to lessen the impact of the disruption on taxpayers and reflects the authority’s commitment to supporting its stakeholders.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. BANDA said the disruption occurred on March 1, 2026 and affected several key services, including ASYCUDAWorld, TaxOnline, Smart Invoice and the Integrated Payment System.
He said the outage caused inconvenience for taxpayers and members of the public.
Mr. BANDA said all core services were restored within 72 hours.
He added that the authority will continue working around the clock to fully recover from the disruption, noting that the incident will not affect ZRA’s monthly revenue target.
Meanwhile, Mr. BANDA dismissed media reports claiming that traffic stretched to 30 kilometres at the Kazungula Border Post, saying that by 14:00 hours the queue measured about 8.2 kilometres.
He said the authority is implementing several measures to facilitate trade at border points and address congestion reported at Kazungula and the Nakonde Border Post.
Mr. BANDA also apologised for the inconvenience caused and appealed for patience as ZRA works to stabilise all system operations.
