Nzovu Urges Women to Seize Empowerment Opportunities

Nangoma Constituency Member of Parliament Collins Nzovu has urged women to take full advantage of government programmes to improve their lives and actively participate in national development.
Speaking at Maimeene Secondary School during International Women’s Day celebrations, Mr. Nzovu highlighted government initiatives supporting women and girls. He noted that one of the constituency’s greatest achievements has been the reduction in pregnancies among schoolgirls, a success attributed to education and community support programmes.
Mr. Nzovu further explained that government has lined up several empowerment programmes for women, including social cash transfers, aimed at boosting livelihoods and promoting self-reliance. He added that free education and menstrual hygiene packs in schools are helping girls stay in school and improve learning outcomes.
Meanwhile, Mumbwa District Commissioner Namukulo Hayumbu encouraged women to actively benefit from social cash transfers, describing them as a vital support mechanism for vulnerable households.
In a vote of thanks, Exildah Mkandawire commended government for its efforts in free education, menstrual hygiene support for girls, and social cash transfers, noting that these initiatives are transforming the lives of women and girls in the community.
