ZANIS- The death toll from yesterday’s Choma road traffic accident has risen to nine.
The accident, which occurred around Tara area, claimed eight lives on the spot.
Choma Hospital Acting Medical Superintendent Dr. George Mubanga confirmed that one of the injured victims died around 19:00 hours yesterday, bringing the total fatalities to nine.
He added that other patients remain admitted but are in stable condition.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo earlier confirmed the accident, identifying the vehicle involved as a Toyota Hiace minibus registration number CAE 1710, driven by a female yet to be identified.
Mr. Namalongo explained that the accident happened when the minibus driver failed to keep her lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Sino Howo truck.
