Over 4.8 billion Kwacha has so far been paid to farmers who supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency –FRA- under the 2025 Crop Marketing Season.
Agriculture Minister REUBEN MTOLO says an additional 1.2 billion Kwacha has been spent on auxiliary costs, bringing the total amount disbursed to over 6 billion Kwacha.
Delivering a ministerial statement in the National Assembly on Tuesday, Mr. MTOLO said the Government has continued paying farmers across the country for the maize supplied to the FRA.
He said the Government remains committed to ensuring that all outstanding payments to farmers are fully settled.
Mr. MTOLO also thanked farmers for their patience and for their continued contribution to national food security.
He explained that over 1.6 million metric tonnes of maize, valued at over 11.3 billion Kwacha, were supplied by more than 800,000 farmers nationwide.
Meanwhile, Mr. MTOLO said input distribution has continued under the Farmer Input Support Programme and other initiatives.
