The UPND has dismissed and expelled party members involved in criminal and violent acts recently reported in various parts of the country.
This follows incidents recorded in Livingstone, Kitwe and Mpika.
UPND Secretary General BATUKE IMENDA says the party has received reports of youths in Livingstone, known for unruly behaviour, who clashed with police after forcing their way into a voter registration centre and demanding to be prioritised based on party affiliation.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. IMENDA warned that no one should use party regalia to intimidate innocent citizens, and urged the police to carry out investigations and arrest those involved.

He said two well-known thugs in Kitwe are reportedly threatening people with firearms, and called on the police to launch an immediate manhunt.
Mr. IMENDA added that similar incidents were reported in Mpika, where some individuals vandalised an incomplete first-level hospital and used the materials for personal gain, which he said is a criminal offence.
He said the expulsion of the party members involved should act as a warning to others who may wish to promote criminality and lawlessness.
