The Ministry of Energy has assured the nation that Government remains committed to addressing Zambia’s electricity deficit through the accelerated implementation of power generation projects.
In a statement issued to ZNBC News, Energy Minister Makozo Chikote revealed that a total of 347 Megawatts of new power generation has already been completed.
The Minister cited the 100-Megawatt Chisamba Solar Photovoltaic Project ,the 25-Megawatt Mailo Solar Plant in Serenje and various Net-Metering initiative projects amounting to 14.7 Megawatts
Mr. Chikote further disclosed that 29 public and private sector-driven projects are currently under construction, with a combined capacity of 2,510 Megawatts, scheduled for commissioning between 2025 and 2026.
Among these are the ZESCO Mansa Solar PV, Maamba Phase II, and CEC Itimpi II power projects.
He added that a detailed list of pipeline projects has been published on the Ministry’s official website and social media platforms, enabling citizens to track Government efforts in restoring energy stability.
Mr. Chikote also welcomed the growing interest from local and international investors willing to support Zambia in bridging its energy gap.
