President Hakainde Hichilema has urged the Church to reaffirm its responsibility to uphold values that build the nation.
President Hichilema says in a world increasingly challenged by moral, social and economic pressures, the Church’s voice remains essential in guiding people especially the youth towards discipline, honesty and responsibility.
The President said this in a speech read on his behalf by Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati during the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Apostles Council of Churches.
President Hichilema has encouraged the Church to strengthen its outreach, continue investing in young people, expand community support programmes and embrace innovative ways of spreading the Gospel.
The President also congratulated the Apostles Council of Churches on reaching the remarkable milestone of 50 years of existence and donated 100,000 Kwacha.
Apostles Council of Churches President Evans Kapinga cautioned the clergy against using the pulpit to preach politics, emphasizing the need to preserve the sanctity of the Church.
Meanwhile, Golden Jubilee Organising Committee Chairperson Apostle Ellingtone Ingo said the Council is committed to national development, adding that its affiliates are ready to bring investors to Zambia.
And Apostles Council of Churches Vice President Kelvin Chewe reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to building a stronger and unified body of Christ, focusing on love, reconciliation and collaboration across denominations.
