Hailstorm Leaves 40 Families Homeless in Chavuma

Forty families in Kabombo Kamisamba Ward of Chavuma District, North Western Province, have been left homeless after their houses collapsed following a hailstorm.
Chavuma District Commissioner Geoffery Kasonda confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with ZNBC News, stating that the affected families are currently being accommodated at a nearby school while authorities assess the extent of the damage.
Mr. Kasonda emphasized that no lives were lost, though minor injuries were recorded. He urged the displaced families to remain calm as government, through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU), works to provide relief and support.
He added that a team of officers has already been dispatched to the area to conduct a detailed assessment and determine the immediate needs of the affected households.
