President Hakainde Hichilema says the fight against corruption is bearing fruit as public resources are being saved from wastage.
President Hichilema says the prudent utilization of public resources has resulted in gains such a the free education policy and creation of employment opportunities.
He has expressed displeasure with some sections of society who try to protect those abusing public resources and has called on the Nation NOT to support corruption. The President said this when he officiated at the International Anti-Corruption Day 2025 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.
President Hichilema said all citizens should play a part in fighting corruption as it will benefit society at large. And President Hichilema said youths are great partners in the fight against corruption and that they should not tolerate corruption as it takes away their opportunities.
He said it is important to work with the youths in the fight against corruption and urged the youths to be more vigilant in providing checks and balances.
President Hichilema said the educational curriculum should be sharpened all the time to make the fight against corruption as one of the values that children should grow up with.
And ACC Board Chairperson Justice Evans Hamaundu has called for active youth involvement indecision-making, policy development and community accountability initiatives.
Justice Hamaundu assured the Nation that ACC is committed to combating corruption and other financial crimes professionally and impartially. Meanwhile, United Nations -UN- Resident Coordinator Beatrice Mutali reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to supporting all efforts in combating corruption and strengthening a culture of integrity across Zambia.
This year’s International Anti-Corruption Day is being commemorated under the theme’Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity’.
