Coach Sichone Frustrated by Late Arrival of Foreign-Based Players Ahead of AFCON

Chipolopolo Coach Moses Sichone has expressed frustration over the late arrival of some foreign-based players, saying it is disrupting his Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) preparation plans.

Speaking from the team’s pre-AFCON camp in Spain, Sichone noted that the delayed release of players by clubs has forced him to rely on those already available for Tuesday’s friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He admitted the situation has been frustrating but emphasized the importance of making the most of the current squad.

The technical bench is expected to field a majority of local players in the DRC match to assess their readiness for the first team. Sichone stressed that the two friendlies against Ivory Coast and the DRC are crucial in building confidence and sharpening the team ahead of the continental showpiece in Morocco.

The Chipolopolo will face the DRC at the Pinatar Arena Sports Complex at 16:00 hours on Tuesday.
