HH Says Bill Seven Strengthens Democracy

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says the passage of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill Number Seven marks a defining moment for Zambia’s democracy and national unity.

President HICHILEMA has described Bill Seven as one of the most debated and consequential issues in recent history, noting that the process tested democratic institutions through robust engagement, lobbying and differing viewpoints.

He says despite the disagreements witnessed during the process, democracy prevailed, with the people speaking through their duly elected representatives.

The President says the ultimate beneficiaries are the people of Zambia and the country’s democratic system, adding that the outcome must be respected in line with democratic principles.

President HICHILEMA has called on Government, the opposition, civil society and citizens to set aside divisions and refocus on national development.

He says the time has come for all Zambians to move forward together, united by a shared destiny and a commitment to the values of One Zambia, One Nation.

The Head of State has urged collective action towards progress and prosperity for the country.

This is contained in a statement issued on President HICHILEMA’s Facebook page, monitored by ZNBC News in LUSAKA.
