Government has rolled out phase two of the Cash‑for‑Work programme, targeting over 1.5 million beneficiaries across all 116 districts. The revised programme will run for six months, with operations beginning in January 2026.
Local Government and Rural Development Minister Gift Sialubalo said payments will remain unchanged, with workers continuing to receive 600 Kwacha. He noted that the updated programme aims to address challenges experienced in phase one and improve overall implementation.
Mr. Sialubalo also clarified that the 174 million Kwacha owed to participants from the previous phase will be settled once the Ministry of Finance releases the funds.
