The Zambia Futsal National Team is set to host South Africa in back-to-back international friendly matches as both sides intensify preparations for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The matches will be played at the Automotive Futsal Arena in Lusaka, with Friday’s encounter scheduled for 18:30 hours and Sunday’s match set to kick off at 16:00 hours.
Speaking during a press briefing, Zambia Futsal National Team Coach Andrea Cristoforetti said playing international matches is a privilege for the squad, providing valuable exposure and experience at the highest level. He added that the friendlies will test the players and sharpen the team ahead of the qualifiers.
Team captain Chota Chileshe emphasized that the matches are crucial for the team’s growth, while teammate Ingram Zulu noted that the fixtures present an exciting challenge for the relatively new squad.
Meanwhile, South Africa Futsal National Team head coach Donovan Peters said his side is anticipating a highly technical and tactical contest against Zambia. Team captain Mduduzi Madikizela added that South Africa has come to Lusaka with the aim of winning, stressing the team’s readiness in all aspects.
