Police Probe Discovery of Baby’s Hand in Livingstone

Police in Livingstone, Southern Province, have launched investigations after the hand of a baby was discovered in a collapsed makeshift structure in Libuyu Township.
The incident occurred on December 18, 2025, around 14:30 hours, when children playing in Chileleko area stumbled upon the severed right hand.
Provincial Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo confirmed that an inquiry file has been opened and investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the case.
Mr. Namalongo explained that the hand, which appeared hard and dry, had been severed from the wrist. Medical authorities have since confirmed that it belonged to a baby aged between one and three months, and that the severing likely occurred two to three weeks ago.
