Masebo Invites Indian Investors to Boost Zambia’s Agriculture

By Hannock Kasama

Lands and Natural Resources Minister Sylvia Masebo has invited Indian investors to invest in Zambia’s agriculture sector.

Ms. Masebo said Zambia has vast land available for agricultural production.

She was speaking in Lusaka when India’s High Commissioner to Zambia, Alok Jha, and his delegation paid a courtesy call on her.

Ms. Masebo noted that Zambia is keen to learn from India’s experience in digital land records modernization, as Zambia’s own system is still at an early stage.

Meanwhile, Lands and Natural Resources Permanent Secretary Patrick Mucheleka called for collaboration between Zambia and India in agricultural mechanization.

He acknowledged that India is among the developing countries with advanced agricultural technology.

India’s High Commissioner Alok Jha encouraged Zambia to explore ways of maximizing the use of agricultural land. He also said Zambia should review its land administration system to accommodate diverse investment opportunities.
