President Hakainde Hichilema has called on churches across the country to take advantage of various social initiatives provided by government to improve their communities and overall well-being.
He said government has introduced several programmes to alleviate challenges faced by citizens, including the enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and the Social Cash Transfer.
President Hichilema emphasized that churches are an integral part of the communities they serve, and there is nothing illegal about them seeking assistance from government through such initiatives.
Delivering the message through his Special Assistant for Politics, Levy Ngoma, during a church service at Kasama Main Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, the President stressed that some challenges faced by churches can be addressed by applying for support under the expanded CDF.
He assured congregants that government remains committed to upholding Zambia’s declaration as a Christian nation and observing the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation.
President Hichilema also urged the church not to be misled by some sections of society, particularly regarding the now enacted Bill 7.
Kasama Main SDA Church First Elder Sydney Silwizya thanked Mr. Ngoma for worshiping with the church, saying it demonstrated government’s commitment to partnering with the church.
He pledged continued support for government’s efforts to enhance national development.
Meanwhile, Kasama East District Mission Pastor Muyabila Nalishebo encouraged the church to continue trusting in God in the journey of life.
