Copper Queens Edge Eswatini to Reach COSAFA Semi-Finals

The Copper Queens are through to the semi-finals of the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa after coming from behind to beat Eswatini 2-1 this afternoon.
Eswatini opened the scoring in the 14th minute through Nonjabuliso Mogkale before defending champions Zambia equalised seven minutes later with a goal from Agness Musesa in the final Group B encounter.
Zambia sealed the win in the second half courtesy of substitute Avell Chitundu’s strike in the 52nd minute, booking their place in the last four.
Speaking after the match, assistant coach Charles Halubono said he was satisfied with the result despite a slow start, adding that the team will continue working hard with the aim of reaching the final.
Meanwhile, Copper Queens midfielder Maweta Chilenga, who was voted player of the match, expressed gratitude to fans for their support. She said the victory was a collective effort made possible by her teammates, admitting that the team lacked cohesion in the first half but improved significantly after the break.
