Mulyata: Collaboration Key to Strengthening Health Sector

Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata says collaboration between government and professional health bodies is key to strengthening the health sector.
Ms. Mulyata noted that while government is committed to improving health infrastructure and expanding access to essential medical services, working alongside institutions such as the Zambia Medical Association is vital in enhancing the sector.
She was speaking in Lusaka today during the commemoration of National Doctors Day, where she flagged off the Zambia Medical Association’s Lusaka Health Walk, Aerobics Session, Open-Air Clinic, and Blood Donation Drive.
Ms. Mulyata said government is making efforts to build a resilient, people-centred health system that delivers quality care to every Zambian, but emphasized the need for collaboration with health professionals to achieve this goal.
Meanwhile, Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital Senior Medical Superintendent Dr. Charles Mutemba said the commemoration of Doctors Day is meant to add a human face to the medical profession. He explained that the profession has been evolving over the years, making it important to constantly update the public on the role of doctors in the ever-transforming field.
The theme for this year’s National Doctors Day commemoration is “Celebrating Excellence Through Collective Impact in Health Care.”
