Police in Livingstone have launched a murder investigation after the body of a 31-year-old teacher was discovered in Maloni Compound.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo identified the deceased as Crebby Siayaziba of Maloni’s B-Section, a teacher at Stan Hope Private School in Linda Compound.
Mr. Namalongo said the body was discovered on March 12 around 12:30 hours by a passerby who alerted officers at Linda Police Station.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Mr. Siayaziba was last seen alive around 21:00 hours on March 11 at his home, before later being spotted drinking at a shebeen in Maloni with another man.
Police officers who visited the scene found the body lying outside an unfinished house in A-Section of Maloni Compound, with a deep cut on the right side of the forehead and injuries to the ear.
Although the deceased’s clothes were stained with blood, there were no signs of struggle at the scene, raising suspicion that the body may have been moved from another location.
The body has since been taken to Batoka Mortuary at Livingstone University Teaching Hospital for a postmortem, while investigations continue.
