An institution dedicated to strengthening parliamentary excellence and democratic governance will be launched on March 16, 2026.
National Assembly of Zambia Senior Media Liaison Officer Nshamba Muzungu announced that the new organisation, the Institute for Parliamentary Studies and Training (IPST), represents a transformative step in institutionalising structured parliamentary training in Zambia.
In a statement to ZNBC News, Mr. Muzungu said that for the first time, the country will have a dedicated centre focused exclusively on legislative capacity development, oversight strengthening, research, and professional parliamentary practice.
The Institute will deliver induction programmes for Members of Parliament, advanced executive courses for parliamentary professionals, specialised training in legislative drafting and oversight, as well as research initiatives aimed at modernising parliamentary systems.
Mr. Muzungu added that beyond its national impact, IPST positions Zambia as an emerging regional hub for parliamentary development within Southern Africa and the wider Commonwealth.
He affirmed that the creation of IPST is a strategic investment in institutional sustainability, professionalism, and the strengthening of Zambia’s constitutional democracy.
