KCM Launches 2026 Marathon to Support Community Development
Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has launched the 2026 KCM Marathon, aimed at raising funds for infrastructure development at Nchanga Golf Club in Chingola.
More than 2,500 participants are expected to take part in the event, scheduled for May 23, 2026.
KCM Chief Executive Officer Malcolm Mewett, speaking during a press briefing in Chingola, said the initiative forms part of the company’s commitment to community investment. He added that companies partnering with KCM are expected to prioritize community development and gender inclusion.
Chingola Mayor Johnson Kangombe praised KCM for giving back to the community through such initiatives.
Meanwhile, Zambia Athletics President Major Bernard Bwalya, in remarks delivered on his behalf by Vice President Moses Phiri, said proceeds from the marathon will support infrastructure development, including the construction of changing rooms at Nchanga Golf Club.
