Eight Arrested Over Mob Killing in Kalumbila

Eight people have been arrested by Police in connection with the murder of a woman suspected of practicing witchcraft in Kalumbila District.
North-Western Province Police Commissioner Bright Siwale confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects are in custody and assisting with investigations.
He added that calm has since returned to the area, with Police maintaining patrols.
Meanwhile, Senior Chief Musele has ordered the closure of Kisasa Market for 60 days following the mob killing.
The traditional leader said the closure will allow Police to conduct thorough investigations and apprehend all those involved.
He also banned all forms of trading at the market, citing lack of cooperation from the community during the ongoing probe.
Kalumbila Council Chairperson Shadreck Munjunga condemned the incident and urged Police to ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.
A check by ZNBC News at Kisasa Market found traders vacating the premises in compliance with the directive issued by Senior Chief Musele.
Meanwhile,Battle Cry for Zambia Founder Apostle Obrien Mayambo has condemned the brutal killing of a woman in Kalumbila’s Kisasa area by a mob.Apostle Mayambo has called on the Zambia Police Service to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that all culprits are brought to justice.

In a statement to ZNBC News, he said such behaviour is not Zambian and does not reflect the country’s stance as a Christian nation.

He also extended a message of condolence to the family of the deceased, wishing them God’s strength during this difficult time.
