A dispute has erupted over burial rites between the children and family of Eneless Kamutumbe, the 46-year-old woman who was killed by a mob in Kalumbila, North-Western Province.
The conflict arose after Ms. Kamutumbe’s family in Kalumbila refused to release her body to her husband, Allan Ngoma, for burial in Chingola on the Copperbelt.
Her family insists she should be laid to rest in Kisasa, the area where she was killed. However, her daughter, Christine Nawale, said the children simply want their mother to be buried in a dignified manner.
Christine has appealed to government to intervene and allow the children and their father to collect the body for burial in Chingola.
