President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has called on the people of the Copperbelt, particularly the youth, to exercise patience and focus on the long-term benefits expected from the government’s ongoing economic revival and major investments.
President HICHILEMA has urged Zambians to remain resilient and concentrate on the development that the New Dawn administration is delivering across the country, emphasising that tangible progress takes time.
Speaking during the UPND fundraising dinner last evening, the President assured the people of the region that numerous projects aimed at addressing the current power deficit are underway.
President HICHILEMA also called for an end to the promotion of thuggish behaviour, a trend he said was common in the past, stressing the importance of maintaining peace and discipline in both political and social life.
And President HICHILEMA assured citizens that the UPND government will not abuse public resources but will instead focus on rebuilding the nation and correcting past economic mismanagement.
Earlier, Copperbelt Minister ELISHA MATAMBO said people who are planning to cause confusion in the region will not succeed, further warning that those sponsoring violence in the province will be dealt with.
He said the region has continued to enjoy peace under the current administration and cautioned that government will not tolerate corruption or lawlessness.
And Mines and Minerals Development Minister PAUL KABUSWE said the recently signed Statutory Instrument on local content is designed to create sustainable opportunities for the people of Zambia.
He said mining companies should not wait for compliance officers before adhering to the law on local content.
