Police in Chingola have arrested three more people in connection with a riot that disrupted President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s address at Chiwempela Market yesterday.

Those arrested are JAMES BANDA, aged 30, ARNOLD MBEWE, aged 22, and JACKSON MBULO, aged 35, all of Chingola.

This brings the total number of those arrested to five.

Yesterday, Police arrested ABRAHAM CHILUMBU, aged 24, and ABRAHAM SICHONE, aged 21.

And Inspector General of Police GRAPHEL MUSAMBA says the situation in Chingola has since been brought under control, and calm has been restored following the swift response by the police.

He says reinforcements have been deployed to maintain law and order and to prevent any further disturbances.

The Inspector General of Police has sternly warned all would-be offenders that acts of violence, riotous behaviour, and destruction of property will not be tolerated.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by Mr. MUSAMBA.
