Zambia Seeks Lessons from Zimbabwe’s Gold Mining Success

Zambia’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Brigadier General Wilson Tembo (Retired), has revealed that Zambia is working to learn from Zimbabwe’s approach in addressing the crises and lawlessness often associated with artisanal gold mining.

Brigadier General Tembo noted that Zimbabwe has managed to effectively regulate and support its artisanal miners, transforming a sector once plagued by disorder into a success story. He emphasized that Zambia has much to gain from Zimbabwe’s experience, ensuring both the nation and its miners benefit from natural resources.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Tembo confirmed that Zambia is backing Zimbabwe’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. He highlighted President Hakainde Hichilema’s consistent support for Zimbabwe’s quest and reassured Harare of Zambia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
