ECZ Partners with Shoprite for Voter Registration

By Rosemary Kamanga
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has partnered with Shoprite to conduct voter registration in its stores nationwide during the 15-day extension period.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer, Brown Kasaro, confirmed that several Shoprite outlets in Lusaka are already operational, including Chilenje, Pinnacle Mall, Twin Palm, Manda Hill, and Cosmopolitan. He added that voter registration centres at Shoprite outlets in Livingstone and Mansa are also open, with plans to cover all districts by the end of the week.
Mr. Kasaro commended Shoprite for demonstrating strong corporate social responsibility by partnering with the ECZ to make voter registration more accessible.
Meanwhile, Lusaka resident Exildah Simoonga said the initiative will help capture more voters who frequent Shoprite stores, noting that accessing voter cards has become easier. Another resident, Namakau Matyola, praised the programme and suggested it be extended to other marketplaces.
