The Chipolopolo will this afternoon take on South Africa in a FIFA international friendly match at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Gqeberha, kicking off at 15:00 hours.
This fixture marks the first outing for the newly appointed Chipolopolo technical bench led by Moses Sichone. He described the game as high profile, noting that South Africa are 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Sichone emphasized that the encounter will help the technical team assess players ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
South Africa’s coach Hugo Broos stressed that Bafana Bafana will not treat the match as a mere friendly, insisting their aim is to win at all costs.
Chipolopolo captain Lubambo Musonda assured fans that the team is ready to give their best and prove they can compete strongly against South Africa. Striker Jack Lahne, making his first national team call-up, expressed his determination to help Zambia win games and shine at AFCON.
Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana captain and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams said his side is taking the assignment seriously as they aim to maintain their winning streak.
