United States Secretary of State MARCO RUBIO has assured Zambia of his country’s continued commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, with a focus on economic growth, private sector investment, and improved health systems.
According to a statement issued by Principal Deputy Spokesperson TOMMY PIGOTT, Secretary RUBIO held a telephone conversation with President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA in which he reaffirmed President DONALD TRUMP’s commitment to deepening ties with African countries, including Zambia.
The statement says Secretary RUBIO and President HICHILEMA discussed advancing meaningful action to support Zambia’s economic transformation agenda, particularly through increased U.S. private sector investment.
It further notes that the two leaders explored new approaches aimed at delivering tangible progress on shared priorities, among them robust private sector growth and the strengthening of Zambia’s health systems.
The United States reaffirmed its readiness to work closely with Zambia to achieve shared development goals.
