2012 AFCON-winning goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene says more work needs to be done to strengthen Zambia’s goalkeeping department.
Mweene noted that despite the Chipolopolo’s struggles in recent friendlies against South Africa and Angola, the situation in the goalkeeping department is manageable and can be improved.
He emphasized that several aspects must be enhanced to prepare the goalkeepers for the December 2025 AFCON tournament.
Now serving as Chipolopolo Goalkeeper Trainer, Mweene expressed happiness at joining the technical bench, adding that after two training sessions with the team, he remains optimistic that the players can be trained to perform better.
Meanwhile, midfielder Gift Siame and defender David Hamasenya, who both play for Club Deportivo Leganés in Spain’s second-tier league, expressed delight after making their Chipolopolo debuts.
The duo said their goal is to secure more game time, help the team return to winning ways, and make an impact at the upcoming AFCON.
