Lusaka Magistrate Fines Mayambu has sentenced a 39-year-old man of Chalala to 15 months imprisonment with hard labour for causing malicious damage to his mother’s property after she refused to give him K500.
Magistrate Mayambu described the convict, Mukanga Simfukwe’s, behavior as irresponsible considering his age. He noted that although Simfukwe was a first offender, his lack of respect for his elderly mother could escalate into violence if not corrected.
The Magistrate stressed that, under normal circumstances, Simfukwe should have been the one providing for his mother rather than demanding money from her. He added that the complainant required the court’s protection from her son.
Simfukwe pleaded guilty to one count of malicious damage to property.
Facts before the court revealed that on October 17, 2025, Simfukwe willfully and unlawfully damaged two pots, three glass cups, one door, and two boxes of tiles valued at K7,500, belonging to his mother.
