Minister of Education, Douglas Syakalima, has applauded Sanlam Life Insurance for donating exercise books and sanitary towels aimed at boosting learner welfare, particularly among girls in disadvantaged communities.
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Lusaka, Mr. Syakalima said the lack of sanitary towels remains a major barrier to girls’ education, often resulting in absenteeism during monthly cycles.
He noted that Sanlam’s support will help safeguard the dignity of female learners and improve school attendance.
Mr. Syakalima further emphasized the importance of partnerships between government and the private sector in advancing educational reforms.
Sanlam Life Insurance Chief Executive Officer, Maunga Kwenda, said the donation reflects the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility commitment to strengthening education and supporting communities.
Mr. Kwenda reaffirmed Sanlam’s continued cooperation to ensure that every child in Zambia thrives in a supportive school environment.
